Alpha Testing

QUICK START GUIDE

Everything you need to run your first tournament with Inertia

Section 01

Getting Started

Welcome to the Inertia App alpha! You're among the first to test our tournament management platform built specifically for Beyblade X organizers, judges, and players.

What You'll Need

  • An iOS device (iPhone or iPad) with the TestFlight app installed, or an Android device
  • The invite link we sent you (TestFlight for iOS, APK download for Android)
  • A few minutes to explore before your first tournament

Installing on iOS (TestFlight)

  • Open the TestFlight invite link on your iOS device
  • Tap "Accept" to join the beta testing program
  • Tap "Install" to download the Inertia App
  • Once installed, open the app and you'll land in the Entry area

Installing on Android (APK)

  • Open the APK download link we sent you on your Android device
  • If prompted, allow your browser to install apps from unknown sources
  • Tap the downloaded APK file to install
  • Once installed, open Inertia from your app drawer

Tip: iOS users will get automatic update notifications via TestFlight. Android users will receive a new APK link when updates are available.

Section 03

Building Combos

Before running tournaments, you'll want to understand how combo building works. Players will register their decks using this same system.

Creating a Combo

  • Navigate to Workshop (swipe up from bottom bar, tap Workshop)
  • Tap the Builder tab if not already selected
  • Select parts for each slot: Blade, Ratchet, and Bit
  • For CX combos, tap "CX (5-part)"
  • Tap Save to add the combo to your collection

Voice Input (Quick Entry)

Tap the microphone icon and speak your combo naturally: "Shark Edge 3-60 Taper". The app will parse and fill in the parts automatically.

Managing Your Collection

Switch to the Collection tab to see all saved combos. Tap any combo to edit (there is currently not a way to delete combos)

Tip: For 3v3 tournaments, players need exactly 3 combos in their deck. Make sure to save at least 3 combos before registering for a tournament.

Section 04

Tournament Setup

As an organizer, you have access to Shōmen — the elevated organizer space where you control all tournament settings.

Creating a Tournament

  • Navigate to Tournament room
  • Tap Create Tournament or select an existing one
  • Enter tournament name and configure settings
  • You'll be set as the organizer automatically

Accessing Shōmen (Organizer Controls)

Once in a tournament as organizer, tap Shōmen in the bottom bar. This opens your command center with three tabs:

  • Setup — Tournament settings, QR code for registration, add players, and test player generation
  • Management — Generate rounds according to your format, manually assign matches, judge management
  • Results — Standings, match history, export options

Tournament Settings

In the Setup tab, configure:

  • Point Goal — First to X points wins (1-10, default is 5)
  • Ring Out Behavior — Either "Redo" the round or award points
  • Format — Swiss or Round Robin (other formats in development)

Player Registration

There are two ways to add players to your tournament:

  • Organizer adds players manually — In Shōmen Setup, tap "Add Player" to enter a player's name and color. This is the most common method since typically only the organizer has the app installed.
  • Players self-register via QR code — If players have the app, they can scan the QR code displayed in Shōmen Setup to join and register their own deck.
  • For 3v3 format, each player needs 3 combos registered to their deck

Tip: Use the "4 Players" or "8 Players" buttons in Setup to generate test players with random combos. Great for practice runs!

Running a Tournament

The Tournament Flow

RegistrationGenerate PairingsAssign TablesJudge MatchesRecord Results

Generating Swiss Pairings

  • Open Shōmen → Management tab
  • Tap Generate Round to generate matches for the current round
  • The algorithm groups players by win count and pairs within brackets
  • Matches appear in the queue automatically

Managing Judges

  • In Shōmen Management, tap Manage under Judges
  • Check the box next to any registered player to elevate them to judge (they will still be able to operate as players)
  • Judges can see assigned matches and record scores

The Organizer View (4 Tables)

Your main tournament view shows 4 table cards in real-time:

  • Each card shows player vs. player, and whether a judge is assigned
  • To quick score or to assign a judge, tap the card
  • Matches will automatically clear when finished and any queued matches will flow into that freed table

Judging a Match (Press-and-Hold)

To judge a match yourself:

  • Press and hold any table card with a pending match
  • Confirm in the dialog that appears
  • You'll be taken to the Arena with all player data pre-loaded

Important: Match results are saved to Firebase in real-time. If the app closes mid-match, you may need to re-enter scores manually.

Section 06

Arena Scoring

The Arena is where battles happen. When judging a tournament match, player names, colors, and decks are all pre-populated.

Scoring Points

Tap the finishing move button under the winning player's side:

1
Spin Finish
2
Burst Finish
2
Over Finish
3
Extreme Finish

Ring Out behavior depends on tournament settings — either redo the round or award X point(s).

3v3 Deck System

In tournament mode with 3v3 format:

  • Each player's current combo is displayed on screen represented as a card
  • To judge the round, tap the combo card that won and tap how it won
  • The next combo in the deck becomes active
  • A shuffle cue will pop-up automatically. Manually reshuffle to match the players, or, use Smart Shuffle

Match Completion

When one player reaches the point goal:

  • You must tap "submit" for the match
  • Results are saved to the tournament
  • Player records (wins/losses) are updated
  • You're returned to the tournament view

Tips & Troubleshooting

Before Your Tournament

  • Run a practice tournament with test players first
  • Make sure all judges know how to use the Arena screen
  • Test the QR code registration flow with a friend
  • Have a backup scoring method ready (paper) just in case

Common Issues

Swiss Pairing not working? Make sure all players have registered properly with complete data. The algorithm needs win/loss records to function.

Can't see the tournament? Make sure you're signed into the correct tournament. Navigate back to Tournament room and re-select it.

Match not saving? Check your internet connection. Results sync to Firebase in real-time — poor connectivity can cause delays.
